Six  People Arrested In Connection With Thodex Scam

Following the Thodex cryptocurrency exit scam, a Turkish court has detained six suspects, who are connected to the scam.

This event has led to the disappearance of the exchange's CEO, who allegedly shut down his trading platform.

As at the time of writing this news, the following information was gathered;

A recent Reuters report on Thursday, has revealed a crypto scam by Thodex has led to the detention of six suspects, who are connected to the crime.

Customers of Thodex cryptocurrency exchange filed a complaint against the exchange after the disappearance of the CEO, Faruk Fatih Ozer; that they were unable to assess their accounts and withdrawal funds.

According to Istanbul's Anadolu prosecutor's office; six jailed suspects which included Ozer's brother, sister and senior company employees are awaiting trial, and that over the past week 83 people were detained in connection to the crime but most have been released, also seven of them were let go on Thursday with judicial control measures.

Other important updates from the news include;

At the request of Turkey, Interpol has issued a red notice for the CEO of Thodex, noting that Turkey has sent units to four countries to search for Ozor, including Albania, Turkish interior minister Suleyman Saylu pointed out during an interview last week with NTV.

According to reports from the media and users, Ozor had run off $2 billion of customers funds and Saylu equally added that the company's portfolio shows $108 million as at then.

There are several investigation on-going on various crypto exchanges, which included Thodex and vebitcoin which halted trading abruptly. On that account, four people were jailed this week pending trail as part of an investigation Into vebitcoin.

In conclusion, the Turkish central bank has recently banned the use of cryptocurrencies for payment but has equally indicated that it does not intend to ban cryptocurrencies. Hence the government is now working to establish regulatory policies.
