A cryptocurrency startup in Nigeria has generated about $1.5 million in seed capital. The cryptocurrency firm stated that the raised funds would be used to expand its services across the African continent. The startup pledges to also make the purchase of cryptocurrencies easy for people.
Celo and Polychain are amongst those who invested in the startup.
The new firm known as Yellow Card, stated that it aims to grow to become a leading trading firm in Africa. The firm has recently set up in Botswana and South Africa, gaining about 30,000 new customers.
They also mentioned that they would be launching their services in Cameroon and Kenya on the 1st of September.
Kenya ranks third, just behind South Africa in BTC trades. Nigeria is currently leading with a market volume of $34.3 million in the second quarter of this year.
The Nigerian cryptocurrency firm, which started in 2016, has over 35,000 traders in Nigeria. Till date, they had managed about $35 million in trades in Nigeria. They provide their customers with more than one payment choice, including bank cards, cash, and credit transfer through digital assets.
