One of the passport processing companies in California announced that one of their accepted payment modes is bitcoin.
Government of California added that they are doing this to ensure that things are going in the standard and right direction. Currently, the state department officials now have the option where staff can do in-person passport applicants.
The essence of this is to reduce the time used for processing from 10-12 weeks and 4-6 weeks for expedited passports. So people can get everything done within a week.

The COO of Peninsula Visa stated that allowing people to make payments to bitcoin will make it fast, and people will be able to travel once the global pandemic is over. During the shutdown of significant offices due to the widespread of covid19, most of the passport companies were also affected.
During the pandemic, some people could not renew their passports. At the same time, some first-time applicants could not get their passports. And according to the report, it showed that about 1million passports were on the backlog.
Even though some private businesses have proposed purchases of tickets with cryptocurrency, the government is not optimistic. The Peninsula government agency made the bug move in June and accepted BTC as a passport payment form. But they disable the option the next day.
