Government should Be Responsible For Currency Issuance

The president of Microsoft, Brad Smith has made it known to the public that the government should be in charge of currency Issuance.

Smith stressed that various currencies need to be managed by an entity to ensure that public interest is protected.

As at the time of writing this news, the following information was gathered;

The President of microsoft has said that it is best for the world to use currencies that are issued, backed by and regulated by the government.

He also pointed out that he is not a fan of encouraging the private sector to issue digital currencies.

Smith expressed dissatisfaction on the issuance of digital currencies by the private sector during an online conference on Wednesday, which was hosted by the bank for international settlements (BIS).

On that account, the question "can tech forms be trusted to issue money?" And whether it is something Microsoft can do, Smith replied by saying that "it is not a place where we have gone and I don't think it is a place we will go. He pointed out that when the social media giant Facebook tried embarking on Cryptocurrency Libra, which was called Diem, it was revolted against.

Smith confirmed by answering that "I think the first question that the world needs to ask is "is the world served best when private companies issue their own currency.

He also stated, that "the world is beside served when currencies are issued, backed by and regulated by governments.

The Coronavirus pandemic accelerated the shift in digital payments and massive stimulus packages, and have fueled interest in cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin.

In addition the Facebook backed Cryptocurrency and it's payment network are expected to commence soon.

Another important update from the news is that the trend towards non-government backed digital currencies has raised concerns among policymakers worldwide, money laundering and loss of control over the monetary system.
