Russian Railways is impressed by the growth of blockchain technology and is eyeing the possibility of adopting it for its rail transport network.
The director of Russia's Railway Transport research institute, Sergey Vinogradov expressed his support for blockchain.
Sergey stated that blockchain technology can be integrated into Russia’s transport system and emphasizes that the rail system will benefit greatly from the integration of blockchain. He backed his support for blockchain by revealing that blockchain tech could assist logistic companies and other firms buy cargo spaces across the country's railway network.
He also believes blockchain will reduce the sorting and paper works significantly and also boycott processes such as transhipment and goods storage.
Russia recently passed a crypto-related bill that gives cryptocurrency a legal backing in the country but prevents it as a means of payment.
