It has been announced by the United States Food and Drug Administration that the research and review the blockchain will begin in order to help advanced food safety.
The United States FDA issued a draft and research for food safety, suggesting that blockchain is a feasible alternative for some existing food security issues.
The draft which was issued a few days ago explains few of the problems being encountered in the distribution of food across the nation and how the FDA has been searching for smart technologies than can be of help in solving these problems.
AI, radar/detector technology, universal object interaction as well as blockchain are the said innovative techs which are being reviewed and researched as regards these four areas; food safety culture, retail innovation, outbreak and prevention, feedback and tracking. The draft revealed that the food and drug administrative body has been considering the use of blockchain for the past two years.
The FDA’s commissioner together with the deputy commissioner on food policy both recognized the overwhelming effect the coronavirus pandemic has had on food supply and its sector, saying one technology that will allow for simple and smooth tracking of food and drugs along the supply chain is blockchain.
