Weiss Ratings Claims there Could Be More than Just 21 Million Bitcoins

In reality, there is more than 21 million Bitcoin (BTC) in the world, rating agency Weiss reported to have seen big exchanges.

In a May 25 message, Weiss — well recognized for its divisive cryptocurrency posts — supposed that exchanges utilize manipulation to give the illusion that there is far more bitcoin than what currently occurs.

"Unpopular Opinion: The stock of # Bitcoin is over 21 million

Exchanges exploit the current availability of every # crypto commodity in almost the same manner as banks maximize the availability of fiat currency.

Weiss tended to oppose the trade concept more generally. Custodial transactions, still increasingly common given recent mass outflows, require an aspect of confidence that the firm finds to be undesirable.

The message ends as follows: “The only defence you have is to keep your own crypt. Not your keys, not your crypt”.

The actual verifiable number of Bitcoins mined is currently 18.3 million, but not all of them are in circulation. Estimates, for example, find around 4 million to be irretrievably missing.
