The controversial figure who sold his antivirus business a long time ago, John McAfee, has become famous in the crypto community due to his dedicated support to the cryptocurrency industry.
For so long, McAfee has been involved with various crypto projects, usually with smaller altcoins. And this time, he is starting his own privacy project called Ghost, a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) privacy-focused cryptocurrency. Today, June 22, the DEX (decentralized exchange) for Ghost is about to go live.
Ghost itself has been controversial since the very beginning. John McAfee didn’t deny the fact that Ghost duplicated some components of PIVX whitepaper. At the time, John McAfee claimed that PIVX is open source, so he wasn’t afraid to copy-paste some contents from PIVX whitepaper.
However, the PIVX team did not like McAfee’s copy-paste efforts and tried to shame him publicly. After the ongoing and neverending debates, McAfee decided to sue PIVX because he believed a project could not claim it’s an open-source protocol if the description of the white paper isn’t.
The PIVX team itself has publicly stated that it is not a subject of legal charge due to its status as a non-legal entity and because the development team is not controlled or centralized in one person or company.
