Crypto Debit Cards can’t Function Properly due to Wirecard Suspension

News • 2020/06/26 • by Remitano

Wirecard Card Solutions Ltd has been told by the UK Financial Conduct Authority to cease its operations. In other words, Wirecard is basically told to stop any of its activities while also being forced to publicly state that it cannot serve its customers any longer. Due to this big announcement, many crypto debit cards have been affected. TenX and Crypto.com debit cards are also affected as they previously partnered with Wirecard.

Crypto.com also made an announcement stating that their customers in the UK and EU region would not be able to top up their cards starting today. Crypto.com also stated that the transactions from these cards are immediately halted. However, Crypto.com ensures that the customers’ funds are still secured perfectly, and they are looking to find another provider to continue the card operations in Europe.

The UK FCA claimed that Wirecard’s $1.9 billion minuses have caused them to take this action because they see a potential bigger danger if they allow Wirecard to continue its operations. Wirecard previously said that they were short of 32% of their claimed assets.

This news has proven that not even regulated companies are totally safe from risks and potential pitfalls. In a time of pandemic like this, things are starting to become more uncertain.
