Jamaica Central bank unveils Jam-Dex

The Jamaican Central Bank held an open contest for the complete branding of the CBDC.

Ms. Ashley Payne, who received a prize of $3840 in Jamaican dollars and an additional 50 Jam-dex for her submissions, developed the term Jam-Dex, an abbreviated version of Jamaica Digital Exchange, and the motto "No cash, no problem!"

According to the bank, the current CBDC tagline is based on a well-known saying about persevering in the face of adversity. In the Jamaican CBDC name, the letter D has a bar similar to the USD sign.

The CBDC's logo is based on ackee, a popular fruit in Jamaica regarded as part of the country's indigenous culture.

The Bank of Jamaica uses these variables to identify citizens who use its digital currency. They also declared in a public statement that they wanted to create a logo that was both artistically unusual and instantly recognizable:

We want a logo that captures the true 'Jamaican-ness' of the name and tagline while remaining simple and conspicuous as an instantly recognizable visual feature.

CNAS issued a warning on Lazarus Group

Although most democratic authorities are worried about asset security because of China and Russia, authoritarian North Korea is developing rapidly as a frontrunner in such assault.

The Center for a New American Security (CNAS) has issued a warning on the Lazarus Group, a Pyongyang-led hacker outfit. The report noted that the cybercriminal group has evolved from a "small gang of cybercriminals" to a "skillful group of hackers and overseas accomplices" that loot crypto assets that are worth a fortune.

The CNAS recalled that the notorious group stole $300 million in crypto assets from the KuCoin in 2020. The US think tank also highlighted the "advanced" assault methods used by the group:

"A variety of complex attacking and hijacking methods, such as a professional mixing services and the usage of new DeFi sites in a bid to disguise the operation, were used in this big intrusion."

The Lazarus Gang, on the other hand, did not correctly mix the looted valuables, enabling the act reasonably straightforward to trace:

“Even though the attackers employed multiple Bitcoin addresses to transmit the obtained monies, they nonetheless aggregated them into a number of groupings, rendering it simpler to identify their possession to a single origin.”
