The blockchain-based platform, Tachyon, has a decentralized VPN hosting 100,000 subscribers as of April.
According to V Systems Chief Architect Sunny King. "Tachyon has begun the pilot project," King said in an April 25 e-mail to Cointelegraph. "The apps are added step-by-step," he said, adding: "I'm delighted that Tachyon VPN has just crossed 100,000 users worldwide this month, and I assume that it will ultimately create a vibrant VPN software community in the world."
Pseudonymous proof-of-stake, or PoS, Sunny King is the chief strategist of a blockchain technology company called V Systems. King helped Tachyon stay off the ground in his early days. "Tachyon is the first large ecosystem-enabled V-System project," King said.
In general, basic VPNs enable users to browse the web without revealing their position, calling on various networks to obscure the true IP address of the user — information gathered regarding the position and operation of each device.
"Tachyon is structured as a marketplace for VPN services," King said. "This provides the requisite framework for service providers and consumers to compete in a highly competitive VPN industry."
