The latest DeFi hype has had $900,000,000 value of BTC digitized with the utilization of wBTC in the last two months.

The landmark is happening a month after the total worth of all BTC digitized on ETH exceeded $1 billion. The current total price of locked digitized BTC is about $1.5 billion, with Wrapped Bitcoin having a one-third.

It’s no longer news that the demand for Bitcoin-on-Ethereum tokens has been surging steadily, particularly because of the decentralized finance (DeFi) industry.

I see the wrapped BTC as open-ended opportunity that comes from the myriads of progress that the blockchain technology brought to challenge the traditional money order systems because the cash management systems are limited in interoperability. However, Bitcoin turned to wrapped BTC has removed all barriers of segregation of needed assets and infrastructure for all partakers willing to use Bitcoin on Ethereum Networks as enabled by Defi in smart contracts. In this way, you need not go for Ethereum to participate in Defi where you have Bitcoin and it is acceptable and convertible by a ready structure that puts it to use as wBTC.
