Korean police reportedly arrest the first person involved in the Terra collapse

The first suspect detained in the case was Terraform Labs' chief business head Yoo Mo on October 6, 2022. It was on this same day that reports of Yoo Mo's arrest as the leader of Terraform Labs' business team surfaced in the Korean media, after which district prosecutor Choi Sung-kook corroborated the reports to Forkast.

An arrest order had previously been issued by the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office after they alleged he had manipulated the price of TerraUSD (UST), now TerraUSD Classic (USTC), in violation of the Capital Markets Act. Authorities withheld information about the arrest, including the time.

Yoo's arrest request was made earlier in September after the executive was suspected to be a member of Terra's founder, Do Kwon's close sanctum. Interpol filed a Red Notice on Do Kwon on September 26, asking security agencies worldwide to find and temporarily detain him awaiting extradition, surrender, or other civil proceedings.

In response to public outcry, Terraform Labs says prosecutors in South Korea have broadened their security concept after investigating the company's top management. The 40-billion-dollar Terra ecosystem collapsed in May 2022, causing almost a trillion dollars to be lost in the crypto market.

The nation's capital market or electronic securities rules do not recognize non-standardized securities issued via a blockchain. A standard for security tokens will be prepared by the Financial Services Commission, the country's monetary authority, towards the end of 2022.
