Bitcoin miner capitulation due to end amid 1st difficulty increase since June

August begins with good news for Bitcoin (BTC) miners as an end to the long squeeze already seems open. With a capitulation that has been on for almost two months, this news is a breath of fresh air for many. Blockware, a provider of blockchain infrastructure and mining software, came to that conclusion after publishing its most recent Intelligence Newsletter on July 29.

The latest iteration of the market study series pointed out changes in the mining environment that are likely to alter a trend that has existed since early June.

According to Blockware, the hash ribbons statistic indicates that miners have been quitting for a "long length of time," and as of August 1, hash ribbons had been a symbol of capitulation for 55 days.

The agency wrote that the current miner capitulation started on June 7th, 2022, and has been going on for a while. They further expressed that it's crucial to remember that miner capitulations are particularly important because they show that a significant proportion of machines are no longer hashing.

They also reported that since June 7th, both public and commercial mining corporations have probably connected other new generation mining rigs. However, the hash rate and difficulty have fallen in size as enough outdated equipment, or ineffective overleveraged miners have closed down.

The turmoil points out the obstacles to profitability created by the decline in Bitcoin value, which has reached $17,600 in June and sent the market down to late 2020. The likelihood of improved conditions for miners is increasing as disputed evidence of the restoration of value power comes up. According to Blockware, capitulation, as described by hash ribbons, should be over before the summer.

The Newsletter expressed that people should expect the miner capitulation to stop in August or September at the latest as long as there are no new lows in Bitcoin.

Early warnings of miners' return to work are already visible on the blockchain due to the fundamentally automated changes to the Bitcoin community.

Specifically, on August 4, following three consecutive downward revisions, mining difficulty is expected to climb for the first time in two months.

Blockware reported that this development is now expected to be positive, and there is a strong likelihood that it will go on this way.

According to them, if current spot value ranges continue, the rise will probably be slight—around 0.5 percent. The earlier lower in difficulty totaled -5 percent for comparison.
