Binance founder Changpeng Zao and Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of ETH, support a voting system that uses blockchain technology as they think it would make the U.S. voting process better.

Considering the lengthy uncertainty of the 2020 U.S. presidential poll, C.Z. stated on Twitter that it is time for the U.S. to adopt a mobile poll system that takes advantage of blockchain technology.

Major Update

  • C.Z. stated that this system would reduce the stress and time it takes to finalize an election.
  • He furthered that it will increase voters' privacy and improve the authenticity of the results.
  • Vitalik supported the idea by reposting. However, he stated that it wouldn't be easy.
  • Vitalik emphasized that blockchain voting will ensure that all votes were counted but may not ascertain their validity.

The CEO of Cordano Charles Hoskinson supports the idea of a blockchain-based poll stating that it's creating a facility for this purpose. However, Taylor Monahan, the founder of Mycrypto, disagrees with the idea, explaining that the crypto and blockchain industry needs to solve its security problems.

A few days ago, the CEO of overstock stated that Voatz could have provided a solution to the ongoing poll faces; however, the voting app is under scrutiny due to security weaknesses. In October, Russia seems successful using blockchain-based voting, with about 300,000 votes recorded.

The Binance CEO argued that such a voting system would reduce the time it takes to confirm the outcome of an election, improve voter privacy, and eliminate questions surrounding the validity of the results.

since i know my country well enough and i understand how they operate, i know they will not adopt this blockchain method in the next 100 years to come, well for the blockchain voting i like it because am down with anything that boost blockchain adoption.

It is a welcomed decision! But not right at the moment because even the blockchain tech that would be deployed in the poll is yet to secure 50% of social acceptance and global adoption. It is much new and if implemented, old folks and many tech-defficient/analog citizens would be disenfranchised.
