The road for Cardano to "waking up" has been quite a long one, but it seems like that journey is slowly coming to an end as we can see some key features of the blockchain gradually coming to life in 2021. Although, when it comes to Ethereum challengers, Polkadot is more likely to steal the spotlight in 2021 simply because Polkadot's Ecosystem is far more advanced than Cardano's Ecosystem. But from the look of things, 2021 is going to be an excellent year for Cardano. Cardano has a lot of stuff coming up in terms of technology and ecosystem.
2020 was an incredible year for Cardano; we finally saw the introduction of the long-awaited Shelley upgrade. Cardano is now one of the most decentralized staking networks. The upgrade was just the early stage of Cardano's awakening; the next step was the introduction of Goguen Mainnet.
Goguen will bring smart contracts and a whole token economy, allowing Cardano to finally become one of the big players in the crypto market and be a fully functional blockchain.
The most significant hold on Cardano since last year has been the lack of an ecosystem. We can already see the hype building up around the anticipation of an ecosystem.
Ethereum is currently beginning to struggle with meeting up with the current demand. The Cardano upgrade has not fully arrived yet; there is still an opportunity for Cardano to step in and have a stake for themselves.
Cardano has even reclaimed over 40 cents; this is a good run for the market cycle so far, considering the current stage of Cardano development. But as a reminder, Cardano reached a dollar and eighteen cents back in 2017 with a market capital worth 30 billion USD; we might probably get a coin based listing for Cardano after smart contracts come in, this is going to get the price of Cardano soaring, make a new floor for more money and more investors.
If Cardano can deliver on all of their promises this year and get a functioning token economy running on Cardano by the end of the year, the previous all-time high may become a "given." Cardano may be worth a dollar and eighteen cents by the end of 2021 or even more than, it may go a lot further than a 4x gain.
