Researchers have noticed a triple-digit increase in domain registrations in 2022 compared to last year, which has led to an exponential rise in cryptocurrency scams. Small-time con artists and more experienced cybercriminals team up to create these more sophisticated frauds, enabling them to automate and simplify operations.

In a phishing attempt that occurred on December 15 against cryptocurrency exchange and custodian Gemini, hackers gained access to roughly 5.7 million customer email addresses and partial phone numbers.

Opera, which proclaims itself the "world's first native Web3 browser," looks committed to assisting users in protecting themselves from shady websites, network hacks, and other frauds that have plagued the crypto sector. The new collection of security features known as "Web3 guard" will improve the browsing experience for Web3 users, claims the official blog post.

"Dapp Check" is one of the primary components of the security package. Users can use this functionality to determine whether an application has been compromised or is secure to use by scanning for known security concerns connected with DApps, such as suspicious code, security vulnerabilities, and audit history.

The Web3 Guard's ability to analyze web sites without compromising users' privacy or personal data for possible signals of abuse, such as popular phishing keywords and characteristics, is another crucial feature.

Additionally, the "Seed Phrase Phishing Check" function has been developed to shield users from phishing assaults, in which the perpetrator dupes the victim into disclosing their private keys or other sensitive information.
