Twitter users have expressed concerns regarding Binance 's mobile spyware app. This concern emerged after recent reports that the Chinese government's TikTok video-sharing platform contained spyware.
Binance's authorization in its Android device includes camera exposure and recording capabilities, according to Twitter user @ShitcoinSherpa, who posted the certificate issuer's screenshots. Notice that there are no public apps in the program that use the following functions:
Binance 's Chief Security Officer looked at the problems and explained some ideas in an interview with Cointelegraph:
"During the KYC process, the device is included. Under the Binance system, built-in technology can certainly not use the microphone. We have an SDK from a third party that needs that authorization. Megvii is a third party vendor used for ID testing during KYC. They are trying to determine if that authorization should be eliminated. Moreover, Megvii will use background noise to detect fraud.
I'm not suggesting that it's spyware, but rather because it doesn't have to run an exchange system for the licenses that it asks for. It has a video and audio license that isn't needed for trading. This being said, past releases have flagged malware. Whether or not false positive (as in ESET) models have inappropriate access thresholds, they are still banned. (...) This has the same access to consumer data as TikTok, and I think it is linked to China.
