Beijing has been named China's leading blockchain city after coming first in this year's Chinese blockchain innovation ranking. Beijing came first with 99.82 points ahead of Shenzhen's 91.2 points. The announcement was made in a special session at the Chinese international trade fair.
Shanghai, China's second-largest city and one of the largest business capital in east Asia, came third with 88 points.
Two months ago, Beijing's metropolitan government revealed a 20-point scheme to increase the development and deployment of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) to enable Beijing become a countrywide and global centre for blockchain tech activities.
Its innovation development scheme scheduled for the next two years shows how Beijing intends to consolidate itself as a global leader in private blockchain innovation by the end of 2021.
