A huge class-action lawsuit has been filed by attorney David Silver on behalf of the people who were interested and had paid to attend the cancelled Crypto Festival against those who organized the event.
The event was meant to take place last year November in Memphis but due to unspecified reasons, it was shifted to the 27th and 28th of February, 2020. About 60 speakers and 2000 participants were already lined up for the event. Tickets had been sold, flight and hotel were already booked several months before the scheduled date.
Suddenly, on the 31st of January 2020, the event was finally annulled by the initiator, Jacob Kostecki. Kostecki said the reason for the cancellation was that he was having issues regarding cash flow and couldn't continue with the event.
Kostecki has however been apologetic and reassuring total refunds on twitter but for about three months now since the conference has been cancelled, Ashely Gentry who initiated the lawsuit and the other members claimed to haven't received any refund whatsoever.
The lawsuit which was filed against Kostecki on the 9th of May 2020 is a 2000-person lawsuit with Ashley Gentry, being the lead plaintiff. The attorney emphasized that Jacob Kostecki did not fulfil his promises and this has caused huge monetary losses to his clients. The lawsuit requests recompense for damages resulted from lost hotel and flight fares, attorney fees, other related expenses with interest.
