Microsoft security intelligence (MSI) gave a fair warning to digital currency users that use a windows systems in an Aug. 27 tweet, stating that a new malware known as Anubis might endanger the funds in their cryptocurrency wallets.
Based on a report from Microsoft, the malware was discovered in June. This malware appears to utilize code pronged from Loki. It also has a similar title with other potent banking trojan targeting Android smartphones for months.
Microsoft Windows users' credit card information, wallet details, and other personal data can be stolen by this malware as soon as Anubis is downloaded from certain websites.
Loki targets its victim by using social engineering techniques, transferring attachments to their emails, which would install the malware immediately it is clicked on. Cybersecurity experts, therefore, advises that in order not to be a victim, any email that appears suspicious should not be clicked on, as that is the only way to keep safe. In the meantime, MSI will continue to monitor and observe the threat while finding a means to tackle it.
