British TV host and ex X-Factor member, Rylan Clark-Neal, alerted his fans to the "fake story" where Rylan had received "millions from Bitcoin." On April 18, the ex Celebrity Big Brother member claimed that the U.K. impersonated a bogus story. The Daily Mirror was released on Twitter. Rylan advised his followers that:
** "There's a false interview running on Facebook and other media that appears to be a daily mirror but doesn't mention how I earned millions of bitcoin. Don't go for it"**.
The message arrives in the middle of a constant stream of bitcoin (BTC) scams advertisements on Facebook. These are mostly targeted ads to spread bogus interviews alleging regional Hollywood stars have earned small fortunes from bitcoin investing.
In the comment thread of Clark-Neal's article, one Twitter user notes that he has obtained e-mails alleging that perhaps the 66-year-old English comic, Jim Davidson, "returned from COVID through investing in cryptocurrency." On March 30, the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) warned of a Ponzi crypto scam threatening Filipino, Australian and European investors via fake endorsements on Facebook.
The SEC's alert came within days of the French soccer player, Kylian Mbappe, lodging a lawsuit against the suspected fraud network for impersonating him in a fabricated interview in which they said he had made millions out of crypto.
