The Central bank’s statement states: “Bitcoin is a digital coin that Honduras and many other nations of the world have not legalised, so it is not considered as a legal tender.”

The central bank further stated that it is the only organization vested with the authority to issue currencies and legal tenders in Honduras. The Country’s central bank does not monitor or control the operations and activities happening in crypto technology. The Bank also pointed out that transactions carried out using virtual currency mainly depend on the person carrying out the transaction.

Although Honduras is yet to adopt or regulate virtual coins, the country stated that it is currently exploring the importance of integrating technological innovations. The country’s central bank is researching the technical and constitutional implications of adopting its digital currency.

Senegal woman created the first business that accepts bitcoin

A young Senegal woman whose name is Bineta is nicknamed Mama Bitcoin. Her business, Bleu comme la, is the pioneer business in the country and possibly the whole western part of the continent to allow people to pay for goods bought using bitcoin. She is also the first literate in her family.

The name "Mama Bitcoin'' is derived from her initials. At the same time, "mama" not just depicts her maternal qualities but also helps to encourage other females in the region to become involved with blockchain technology and Bitcoin (BTC). According to Cointelegraph, she stated:

"Women are underrepresented in the blockchain field throughout the globe, and the case in Senegal is no exception." I wanted to highlight what it's like to be a female in the cryptocurrency sector."

Bineta originally came across Bitcoin in early 2017 due to a strange mix of positive motives and strange situations. Bineta dreamed of creating the first bakery in her community, Mbour, a little fishing village 90 minutes south of Dakar, Senegal's capital. Bineta, on the other hand, required funds to provide warm pains au chocolat to the neighborhood every morning.

In West Africa, getting a bank loan for a business idea is extremely tough, and it's much more challenging for women. Bineta had to look for other options. She attempted a multi-level marketing scheme (MLM) before learning about Bitcoin from a colleague in Cameroon.

Bineta's interest was piqued after extensive investigation. She rapidly understood that Bitcoin was far more vital to her goal than a possibly dangerous MLM enterprise. Mama Bitcoin had spent a lot of time studying Bitcoin-related information in French and English, interpreting when necessary, by mid-2017.

She realized that Btc is more than simply a "numbers go up" technology and that it had the potential to create more than just a new village bakery:

"As I studied more, I understood how important this is." This amount of money will aid in the resolution of several challenges. Not only is Bitcoin an instrument for liberty, but the innovation that underpins it, such as blockchain and decentralization, will have a significant impact on Africa's growth."

Bineta's intentions were pushed up a notch after his trip down the Bitcoin rabbit hole. The bakery (Bineta quips that it would have been called the Bitcoin Boulangerie) was discarded in favor of a vision for Bitcoin in West Africa.

Bineta enabled herself to aspire higher, building on her previous business expertise and the closeness of Senegal to the Atlantic Ocean. She designed and launched the enormous beach business Bleu comme la mer.

Bleu comme la mer is a fishing commerce platform that links fishers and buyers directly, cutting out the intermediary. Senegal's first company to take Bitcoin payments. Mama Bitcoin is the founder of the Tezos community in West Africa.

The decentralized network aims to simplify the fishing sector and combat overfishing, a damaging yet all-too-common practice in West African waters.
