Key Takeaways

  • Chainalysis data reveals CNWE acquired over $1 trillion in bitcoin last year.
  • But its new status as the world's biggest trade center is due in part to Eastern Europe losing market share.
  • According to the findings, the EU has the world's highest concentration of bitcoin traders.

CNWE has surpassed Eastern Asia as the busiest crypto trading center. DeFi is mostly responsible.

It is the world's largest cryptocurrency economy since July 2020. Since then, the region has seen a significant increase in commerce, particularly in DeFi.

CNWE has acquired almost $1 trillion in cryptocurrencies in the last year alone, according to Chainalysis. In other words, about 25% of global commerce.

In addition to North America, China contributes at least 25% of all crypto value.

As a consequence, the EU has the highest bitcoin trading volume globally. Institutional investors have boosted their trading activity, which has helped.

Large institutional trading transactions now represent half of all CNWE trading activity, up from $1.4 billion in July 2020 to $46.3 billion in June 2021.

The biggest increases in transaction volume were seen on DeFi protocols, which carried over 80% of these large institutional transactions in June.

The impact of DeFi may be observed much more clearly when comparing currencies based on transaction volume.

Despite being the biggest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, Bitcoin has a lower transaction volume among major institutional investors.

In June 2021, the majority of CNWE bitcoin services received funds through DeFi protocols.

Bitcoin trading on CNWE has increased dramatically. To be fair, Eastern Asia, which formerly dominated the global commerce centers, helped it climb to the top.

At the start of 2019, the region accounted for about 30% of the global transaction volume.

Since then, it has dropped to about 15%, lower than CNWE, North America, and even portions of Asia.

China's continuing attempts to prevent bitcoin trading inside its borders may explain this.

China has reinstated its prohibition on bitcoin trading inside the country and has subsequently blocked all access to exchanges.

Will CNWE be able to maintain its recent rate of expansion?
