ETH Trade Cost Decreases from $11.61 to $2.09 as DeFi Boost Reduces

The mean transaction fee on the ETH blockchain has decreased by 82% from a record high of $11.61 in September to $2.09 this month. The decrease could be as a result of a decline in the boost of DeFi activities.

The miners of ETH have experienced a similar sudden decline in total revenue from costs in the last three weeks. On the 17th of last month, ETH miners gained 47,762 Ethereum, which is about $14.96 million in costs. However, that collapsed to 5,987 Ethereum, which is about $2.06 million on Sunday.
With total profits, costs reducing from 69% to 29% simultaneously, prices have gone up, and last month, those mining Ethereum made a record gain of $500,000 in 60 minutes.

Ethereum miners raked $113 million in earnings, higher than 3,660% from the $3 million gained in April. When likened with the mean gas fee in April, which was about $0.09, the current ETH price is still high, regardless of the plunge. The boost of DeFi, which has surged to $9 billion in 3 months, has been the cause of the sharp increase in ETH trade cost.

Ethereum developers are also testing technical solutions to decrease costs and enhance efficiency. And this includes a network upgrade called ETH 2.0. However, the project is still some months away from coming to fruition.

The inconvenience being brought by Hike in Ether gas free is a big abnormality caused by Defi projects operations. Even though the report has shown that Ethereum transaction cost has witnessed over 82% decline because of the reducing Defi activities yet many fans of ethereum who have abandoned the platform for its outrageous Gas fees might not come back to it anymore because there are other far better networks cheaper than Ether that also offer Defi programs on their smart contracts being deployed with their PoS.
