The Reserve Bank of India or RBI has stated that currently, there’s no restriction for Indian commercial banks to provide banking services to crypto exchanges and crypto-related companies. Previously, there were some confusion regarding whether commercial banks in the country could provide services to crypto companies or not. While the RBI used to ban crypto companies from dealing with banks in the country, it has reversed the ban decision not too long ago.

That being said, some commercial banks were still banning crypto exchanges because they felt confused with the RBI’s policies. Fortunately, they don’t need to feel confused anymore, as the RBI has officially stated that the restriction for crypto companies does not exist anymore.

Bigger crypto exchanges in the country, such as WazirX and CoinDCX have welcomed the comment by the RBI. It looks like this statement would finally clear the confusion in the banking sector in India.

India has been touted as one of the emerging markets for cryptocurrency trading. Due to its massive population and its welcoming approach toward new technologies, many crypto analysts believe India would be the next big country in crypto usage. While the Indian government had been generally hostile toward cryptocurrencies, it looks like the government now is ready to embrace crypto.
