Etihad Airlines Ex-Flight Attendant is About to be Sent to Prison Over Loan Debt

Reddit user Crypthomie went viral in August 2018 after he admitted that he had taken a $100,000 loan in December 2017 to invest in cryptocurrencies. Unfortunately for him, crypto prices kept going down in 2018, and some of Crypthomie’s investments even went down as low as 95%. He claimed that he had invested in NEO, XLM, LTC, ETH, and a bunch of “shitcoins”.

After the valuation of his crypto investments kept on going down, he decided to pay his loan through instalments. He used a portion of his salary as a flight attendant to try to keep up with the debt. That being said, he cannot afford to pay the debts anymore because he’s now unemployed.

As everybody knows, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has been very hard on airline employees. Many of them are losing their jobs, and it might take a lot of time before everything goes back to normal. Crypthomie is now facing jail time because inability to pay debts carries a jail sentence in the UAE.

Some users on Reddit have suggested him to flee the country, but he said it’s no longer an option because there’s a travel ban on his name as soon as the bank opened a case against him.
