Russian Government Lifts Ban on the use of Telegram Chat

Finally, the communications and information authorities in Russia has officially cancelled the ban on Telegram after years of banning the use of the chat app.

In an official statement released on Thursday, Roskomnadzor, the federal ICT and Media authority officially lifted the restrictions on the use of Telegram messenger. In the statement, the authority applauds the effort of Telegram chief executive officer Pavel Durov’s effort to help the nation uphold the law.

The commendation was in response to a statement released by Pavel stating that the Telegram team has been fighting terrorism and other violent acts while maintaining user privacy.

In the CEO’s official statement, he highlighted that the Team has prevented numerous attempts to incite terror and violence in the country. He also revealed that the encrypted messenger has developed a technology to prevent terrorist actions without compromising the privacy of its users.
