In the early days of 2020, representative Mark Wright filed a motion to make all businesses that deal in cryptocurrencies apply and get licensed before being able to operate in Louisiana.
Passing this bill would create a framework on how crypto-focused businesses can get licensed. It would also define the language and terms associated with digital currency and cryptocurrency exchanges.
According to public records, on the 20th of May, the bill was approved by the Louisiana House of reps as it got a unanimous vote of ‘92 yeas’. After the approval by the house of reps, the bill was pushed to the Senate where it was later transferred to the Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and International Affairs after a second reading on the 21st of May.
