One of the most widely known tourist centers in Jeju island in the Republic of Korea, which has almost 15 million people touring yearly, makes it compulsory for its tourist to use a decentralized identity blockchain technology-based app. This app was created to provide private and secured COVID-19 contact tracing.
Jeju province, one of the nine provinces of Korea's republic, had concluded with the blockchain firm in Korea ICONLOOP to initiate the system, based on an August 19 report.
A Korean telecom service would be used to verify the tourist identities on their Arrival after they must have downloaded the Zzeung mobile app. Afterwards, a public blockchain would be used to verify the credentials issued at the back end to assure that the information has not been altered or forged.
Visitors' data would be concealed in a private blockchain, except a visitor is found to be infected by the virus. Later in August, fifty private firms would also adopt this operation.
Jeju island would be able to rebuild a secure and reputable tourist center in Korea with this newly adopted method of preventing infectious diseases.
