Cardano (ADA) has had a solid start to the year, breaking through the psychological $1 barrier to reach a new high of $1.50. Cardano's remarkable 590 percent year-to-date gain occurred as the network evolved into a multi-asset network similar to Ethereum, which could bode well for the future of the cryptocurrency.
This last lap of the rally appears to be connected to the Coinbase Pro listing, which was revealed on March 16 and resulted in a renewed drive to $1.47 on March 18.
Bybit, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges, also announced the launch of perpetual contracts for three cryptocurrencies, and Cardano (ADA) is among them (DOT).
At 4:15 p.m., ADA soared to a new all-time high of $1.88 on the exchange during the first minutes of trading.

Cardano's spot trading volume and on-chain transactions increased in tandem with its price, surpassing Litecoin (LTC). Cardano's futures contracts open interest grew five-fold in 2021 as a result of the increased investor interest.
ADA had a $97.5 billion trading volume in 2021, surpassing Polkadot (DOT), Ripple (XRP), and Litecoin, according to Nomics open exchange volume.
A more accurate view of network use is provided by daily active addresses. However, this detail cannot be taken at face value. The higher the fees, the less the incentives to inflate the figure.
The power of Cardano is shown by the network's daily transfers and transactions, which total $4.5 billion a day. This is at least six times more than the next closest competitor. As a result, the $45 billion market capitalization is supported by ADA's on-chain operations.
While volumes and on-chain data are important indicators, Cardano may only have a limited window of opportunity to take advantage of them.
At its height, the gap between Coinbase Pro's ADA/USD pair and Binance's ADA/USDT pair was 39 percent.
Only Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) have ever broken the $1 billion open interest barrier. Furthermore, just three months ago, Ether had a $2 billion open interest.
