XRP users will now uninstall their wallets on the XRP network should they wish — an enhancement that was placed in effect after the bulk of the group agreed in favour of the move.
"Upon retaining an 80 per cent majority throughout the required 15-day polling era, the XRPL Deletable Accounts modification was activated on May 8, 2020, at 4:29:30 UTC, via the 55,313,921 ledgers," said former XRP Center president Arturo Portilla in a May 8 tweet.
The Ripple XRP operates on a distributed ledger. "The register in the XRP Ledger reflects the owners of the XRP and the source of transactions," says XRPL.org.
The XRPL blog revealed the new function in a May 6 article. "Only the owner of the account can uninstall it, though, because you have to submit a request from the account to be removed," the post clarified.
Finishing a wallet implies that the account no longer remains on the new XRP ledger. Still, the unchangeable background of the ledger would also display the wallet's past operation, the post said. Sending 20 XRPs or more to an old pocket, though, revives the dead account. Everyone can do it, but the private keys to the wallet are nevertheless required to use the wallet.
