Support for South African Rand Now Available on Binance

News • 2020/05/12 • by Remitano

Binance, one of the biggest crypto exchanges in the world, has authorised straight deposits in the South African rand. Users should also be able to deposit rand into their trading accounts in shorter than thirty minutes if their bank accounts accept the Quicker Payments Program.

In a May 12 blog post, Binance reported that rand would be usable against five notable cryptocurrencies — Bitcoin (BTC), Ether ( ETH), Binance Coin (BNB) Binance Dollar (BUSD) and Tether (USDT).

This tends to be part of Binance's plan to invest in cryptocurrency exchanges with prior bank partnerships. This move allows transacting cryptocurrency in local fiat money.

Targeting New Markets

Binance has been steadfast in extending its scope in both developed and emerging countries. Cointelegraph announced only today that Binance had made an investment in one of Indonesia's leading domestic controlled exchanges, Tokocrypto, although the sum of investment is still undisclosed.

Earlier in April, Binance also sponsored Indian rupee and Indonesian rupiah to tap into the promise of rising cryptocurrency markets in these countries. Binance has purchased one of India's largest WazirX cryptocurrency exchanges and the most successful CoinMarketCap crypto database.
