Brian Armstrong makes crypto prediction

According to Brian Armstrong, CEO of major crypto exchange Coinbase, the number of individuals who have utilized or tested crypto-assets will exceed 1 billion within a decade, adding even more to the global economy.

"My opinion is that in 10-20 years, we'll see a significant percentage of GDP flowing in the crypto sector," Armstrong stated at this year's Milken Institute Global Conference, according to Bloomberg.

Compared to another large cryptocurrency marketplace, Crypto.com's forecast is relatively modest. Last December, the firm predicted 2022 would be when the worldwide number of cryptocurrency users surpassed 1 billion. In addition, Crypto.com stated in February 2021 that it intended to reach 100 million users by 2023. Coinbase claims to have over 89 million verified users.

Meanwhile, the CEO highlighted that regulatory uncertainty in the United States is still a major impediment to the expansion of the cryptocurrency business. In comparison to the regulatory framework for the internet, the one for cryptocurrency has evolved at a far slower rate, he claims.

As per Armstrong, "it's becoming increasingly difficult to find a serious crypto skeptic in [Washington, D.C.]."

Cathie Wood, CEO of global asset management ARK Invest, stated at the same event that decentralized finance (DeFi) was one of the cryptocurrency industry's disciplines with the possibility to absorb some of the most brilliant financial industry members.

"We are witnessing a lot of financial organizations lose talent to crypto in the case of DeFi and next-generation internet," she was reported as adding. "As a result, they must take it seriously or else they would be hollowed out."

BMC replied Democratic legislators

The Bitcoin Mining Council (BMC) replied to Democratic legislators' statement to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administrator Michael Regan last month with its response trying to correct misunderstandings regarding Bitcoin (BTC) mining and its ecological effects.

The BMC letter, which has over 50 signers and was written by MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor, Castle Island Ventures partner Nic Carter, and Darin Feinstein of Core Scientific, outlines apparent misunderstandings in the paper supplied by Regan. The writers said, among other things, that the original letter, signed by Democratic Representative Jared Huffman and 22 members of Congress, "conflates datacenters with electricity-producing facilities."

The Democrats' statement encourages the EPA to guarantee that cryptocurrency miners follow "fundamental environmental regulations like the Clean Air Act or the Clean Water Act" and raises other issues about cryptocurrency mining, such as electrical waste and excessive noise. The BMC letter focuses on eight arguments and disproves them thoroughly.

The initial letter's claim that Bitcoin mining operations around the nation are "polluting communities" is incorrect. According to the BMC, Bitcoin mining operations do not pollute the environment; rather, electricity generation infrastructure. The inability to distinguish between the two occurs several times. The writers also address what they consider to be clear falsehoods, such as "A single Bitcoin transaction could power the average US family for a month."

However, in responding to the allegation that proof-of-stake (PoS) processing is less energy-intensive, BMC may have shown its own preconceptions.
