While many people often believe that cryptocurrency and the blockchain are about the tech and the “future,” not all of them realize the real meaning behind these technologies. Charles Hoskinson, the co-founder of Cardano (ADA), recently stated that cryptocurrency is a political movement, and crypto believers should get behind it.
In a recent Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on YouTube, Charles said that you are basically participating in a political act when you decide to tap into the crypto space. Charles also mentioned that the fundamentals of cryptocurrency have always been about monetary issues. Thus, it’s naive if people think that cryptocurrencies are not about politics as fiat monetary policies are always decided by the governments.
At the end of the day, money decides politics, and that’s why cryptocurrencies (which seek changes to how monetary policies work) are often banned and strictly regulated in many different countries. According to Charles, people who love cryptocurrencies must fight for the political rights of crypto. They must fight against government restrictions because, at the end of the day, changes always come when you fight for them.
Charles Hoskinson also addressed the importance of fighting against encryption bans. He also made his point by saying that people wouldn’t use Cardano if it’s designed to have backdoors.
The co-founder of Cardano is not the only person who has mentioned that crypto is a political movement. Many other crypto enthusiasts believe in the same thing. Keep in mind that the earliest crypto believers (including Satoshi Nakamoto himself) have repeatedly said that the history of fiat currencies is full of breaches of trust. And that’s why cryptocurrencies are designed to be decentralized.
