Famous hardware wallet company, Ledger,confirmed a security breach of its online marketing database on June 17, which gave the perpetrators access to about one million of its users' contact data.
In a recent tweet from the company, they stated that their online database for marketing was breached, revealing its clients' contact information. Despite the breach, Ledger guaranteed that no crypto was lost; neither was transaction details of clients exposed.
The company also stated that they had sent an email earlier today to inform the affected clients of the breach. In another post, the firm said that they got to find out about the breach from a participant of their bounty program while conducting research. They concluded by reassuring customers that all present and potential breaches have been fixed. They also assured them that customers are still in total control of their crypto holdings, and they can remain confident that their crypto assets are safe.
As a result of the breach, Ledger has been making considerable effort to maintain its clients' trust and confidence( which would have justifiable reasons to be alarmed), especially those storing large amounts of cryptos using Ledger's product. In a letter from Pascal Gauthier, Ledger's CEO, he advised customers to alert and watch for phishing attacks in light of the data breach that has occurred.
Gauthier also stated that Ledger has been in contact with the French data protection authority (the Commission Nationale de l'informatique et des libertés or CNIL) and says the company is working with the regulatory authorities in adhering to the required standard of data privacy and security.
