Telegram promised to reimburse creditors after the planned release of the Gram token fell – again – due to regulatory complications. Investors would automatically earn 72% of their shares, as a first choice, or 110%, if they want to stay another year. The second choice the be charged in another cryptocurrency in the Telegram Messaging Program, with an extra 10% incentive.

The social network contributed $1.7 billion to the ICO in 2018, giving creditors the Gram token in exchange. Telegram made legal undertakings that it will either offer the cryptocurrency to customers initially by October 31, 2019 or send the money back. The new deadline for the completion of the Telegram Accessible Network (TON), the Gram-supported open network is today, 30 April.

However, in the time after its fund-raising, the organization has encountered significant legal challenges. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) requires the Gram project to be suspended owing to suspected criminal activities by the Telegram Production Team.

Currently, in a letter to TON investors posted on the Russian website, Telegram claimed that: "Sadly, following the latest ruling of the U.S. District Court, we are unable to send Grams to you by the deadline of 30 April." The court judgment prohibits the firm from releasing the planned digital asset or introducing the underlying TON network before the conflict is settled.
