The mystery of the creator of the world’s top cryptocurrency is one secret that has for long been investigated. In over a decade of Bitcoin’s lifespan, investigators and experts have discussed and tried to deduce the owner of the Bitcoin white paper. Earlier in 2016, an Australian man, Craig Wrights, claimed to be the author of the white paper but now, current legal charges could prove if he is truly the creator of the Bitcoin cryptocurrency.

Major Updates

  • Self-acclaimed Bitcoin creator sues operator of Bitcoin.org.
  • Wrights’ reveals the Bitcoin White paper as his.
  • The stated charges are for violated copyrights.
  • Cobra views Wrights’ claims as a form of ‘Harassment.’

Cobra, the publisher of Bitcoin.org, has been charged to courts for violating copyright policing of the Bitcoin White Paper. Craig Wrights, who claim to be the author, demands the white paper be taken down from the site. However, no such action has been made by the site.

The publisher of the site, referred to as Cobra, wishes to stay faceless. Furthermore, some believe Cobra’s anonymity may force the court to place rulings in Wrights’ favor.

Wright defends claims of limiting access to the Bitcoin White paper and harassing the site. He only stated that the purpose of the case is to exercise and protect the rights to his intellectual property.

Wrights’ involvement with the Bitcoin cryptocurrency started back in 2015. The Australian Police had performed a warranted raid of his home, which led to speculations of him being Bitcoin’s creator.

Later in 2015, he confessed to being the real Satoshi Nakomoto. He, however, backed down after promising to reveal proof. He apologized and said he did not dare to present his evidence.

Conclusion

Previous legal cases have failed to prove if Wrights was indeed the creator of Bitcoin, but this particular case could do the trick. With its deep association with the author of the original Bitcoin white paper and heavy speculations surrounding it, this might disclose one of the world's biggest secrets.

Question of the Day

Do you think Wrights’ claims of being Satoshi Nakomoto could be true?
