Blockchain technology and Cryptocurrency in the Asia Pacific Region
According to the Asia Pacific edition of Linkedin's latest Future of Skills report, the region faces a labor shortage of 12.3 million workers, costing the region an annual opportunity cost of US$4.2 trillion.

Indeed, the report found that at least 42% of core skills required for a job will change in 2020, notwithstanding the changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic this year. It also found that:
- APAC's talent crunch is made worse since the region exports more talent than it imports
- A significant driver of this talent crunch is the need for more availability of skills and skills instability.
- A 2018 PwC CEO survey found that 80% of CEOs worry about critical skills' availability.
- A 2017 survey found 88% of APAC banking or finance businesses believed blockchain was essential to the industry's future.
- APAC governments have generally been supportive of blockchain technology while remaining cautious about digital currencies
Furthermore, the report also found "blockchain" to be THE top complex skill. Employers are looking for in 2023 --- beating out other technical skills such as artificial intelligence and soft skills such as sales.
