Mastercard CEO drops his opinion on Bitcoin and the financial market, saying that bitcoin's volatility is not putting it in the right position to make monetary judgments.

The volatility of Bitcoin cannot allow it to come in as inclusive currency for the unbanked. The CEO of MasterCard, Ajay Banga, made this statement at the Fortune Global Forum conference. In his opinion, he also made mention of the ghosting of the mastermind behind the coin.

Major updates:

  • He said he doesn't believe in volatility, so Bitcoin isn't so cool for him.
  • The anonymity of the creator of the coin doesn't make it look transparent.
  • The CEO talks about crypto because of the many collaborations between Mastercard and CBDCs.
  • He has made it clear that BTC doesn't meet the requirement for the unbanked.
  • The only option possible is digital fiat that will help international trading and decision making.

Back in 2019, we saw Mastercard becoming open and interested in cryptocurrencies. However, in the latter part of the year, Mastercard exited alongside other top brands like PayPal. Stripe and Visa saying they cannot involve in a non-transparent deal.

Mastercard has a vast investment in CBDCs, and they are willing to allow the central and commercial banks to explore international transactions.

Do you think the volatility and lack of transparency in Bitcoin is a limiting factor? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

The volatility and lack of transparency is a major Limiting factor, because all MasterCard cares about is earning profits.

The views of Ajay Banga is similar to the mindset stance of the global government as they are closed minded to see the positive contributions of the blockchain advancement because they are so used to fiats and would not want to take the stress on dealing with the volatility and anonymity of Blockchain operations. His problem could be management resolves on using accurate benchmark to decide on values and accountability and identification of users since KYC/AML are priority in the public financial procedures. Based on my intuition, I can say that MasterCard Boss is going to eat his cake very soon without having it at his hand just as PayPal has moved extra steps further to enlist cryptocurrency on her platform and would be ready for launching in 2021.

I think it follows a year in which Bitcoin’s price has swung wildly between less than $5,000 in March to over $15,000 today. Such unpredictability can bamboozle even a seasoned trader, let alone users who have little to no experience with any financial instruments.
