As markets remained confused about their end-of-year direction, Bitcoin (BTC) bounced from new lows on Dec. 30.

BTC/USD bounced to $47,731 on Bitstamp, recovering virtually all of the previous day's declines, according to data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView.

The pair was still above $47,000 before the Wall Street open, as dealers indicated that the bumpy BTC price movement was not yet done.

"Markets have been a little dull lately. For Bitcoin, it's just a case of bottoming out "Michaal van de Poppe, a contributor to Cointelegraph, explained the situation.

"We're retesting $46K as support, which has recovered, but we may need to take liquidity below the lows before we can make another upward run."

On the day, that liquidity was between $44,000 and $45,000, with Bitcoin having firmly restored its range earlier in the week, which was restricted by resistance at $53,000 and higher.

The possibility for abrupt swings up or down remained against a low-liquidity holiday backdrop.

In the latest issue of its weekly newsletter, The Week Onchain, on-chain analytics firm Glassnode highlighted, "Alongside a heightened likelihood of a leverage contraction, we also have a general fall in trade volume."

For the first time in 10.5 years, nearly $50 million in Bitcoin from 2011 was transferred.

For the first time in 10.5 years, two addresses from 2011 holding 500 bitcoin each moved 1,000 coins on December 29.

For the first time in 10.5 years, an address registered on July 10, 2011, at 11:22 p.m. (UTC) containing 500 bitcoin (BTC) moved the BTC on Wednesday. Another wallet, formed on the same day in 2011, transferred 500 BTC valued at more than $23 million.

Also, for the first time in over a decade, a wallet from August 12, 2011, containing BTC worth $1.8 million, transferred coins. BTC was going for $47,500 per unit at the time of transfer, making the total of 1,040 BTC spent on Wednesday worth almost $49 million.

Because the bitcoin wallets were both opened on July 10, 2011, it's safe to believe that the 1,000 BTC came from the same person. Because the 40 BTC wallet was created roughly a month later, it's possible that the owner was the 40 Bitcoin owner.

Apart from four earlier 2011 transactions this month, there hasn’t been much 2011 bitcoin spending in December. On December 1 and 14, two coinbase rewards were spent. On December 11, ten bitcoin (BTC) from a wallet created in 2011 and twenty bitcoin (BTC) from another wallet created in 2011 were transferred.
