Elon Musk's Twitter account has allegedly been hacked today after a string of crypto-currency-related assaults such as Binance, U.K.-based Coinbase, and Gemini. The @Bitcoin Twitter account was also impacted.
Musks account pinned a feed tweet at 16:17 ET, indicating that the contractor doubles every bitcoin that the contractor sends to a wallet address.
Musk also recently spoken regarding cryptocurrency in its Twitter account, indicating that it has 0.25 bitcoins.
Bitcoin owners are considered to use the technology to replicate irreversible purchases in their digital wallets.
As the attack continued, Bill Gates' account was targeted as well. While the attackers were focusing on cryptogenic accounts at first, they grew to technology leaders including Jeff Bezos of Amazon, and then famous people like Kanye West.
After ten minutes, a 3.64 Bitcoins, worth $34,498 when writing, were already included in the wallet address that has been posted on Musk 's account. The wallet was only sent 0.6527 Bitcoins after posting on a hacked account of several exchanges before Musk's account was hacked.
The apparent intrusion also penetrated various other accounts in the cryptocurrency room, including the main exchanges in town. Binance and Coinbase have between them 2.2 million Twitter subscribers, but Musk 's network is bigger at 36.9 million followers.
