The miners basically “mine” for new blocks in the blockchain by solving complex cryptographical puzzles using their computational power. As a result of this, they get a mining reward which is 12.5 BTC. Once they successfully mine a block, they gain the power to put in transactions inside the block.

Mining is the process of creating a block of transactions to be added to the Ethereum blockchain. Ethereum, like Bitcoin, currently uses a proof-of-work (PoW) consensus mechanism. Mining is the lifeblood of proof-of-work. Ethereum miners - computers running software - using their time and computation power to process transactions and produce blocks.

Ethereum mining is fundamentally similar to bitcoin mining. Both use proof of work (PoW). PoW is a competitive activity that miners undertake to write transactions to a new block that will be added to the blockchain. A miner successfully mines a new block while competing with fellow miners by running a hashing script.

Ethereumcan mined in 3 different way. (1) POOL MINING (2) MINING ALONE (3) USING CLOUD MINING SERVICES
