Latvian Police Confiscate Crypto from Cybercrime Gang

The Latvian state police successfully disrupted a cybercrime organization operation suspected to have been involved in money laundering since 2015. The police were able to recover crypto assets of about $126K from the criminals. The amount retrieved includes cryptocurrency worth over 110K euros in Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, and USDT. In addition to the digital currency, law enforcement seized cash worth about $360,084 and also confiscated several valuables and cars from the cybercriminals.

The Latvian state police arrested the suspects and charged them for commiting internet fraud, leaking data on the darknet, money laundering in the form of digital currency, and gold with a minimum of 1000 victims.
Latvian authorities have refused to explain the fraud tactics and antics claiming the information was vital to the successful operation.

According to the Authorities, Proceedings on the case began early this year, and if the suspects are convicted, they face three to twelve years in prison.
