I think the interoperability of Polkadot has given it a huge edge above Ether because of high scalability, speed and ability to accommodate any crypto asset without any need to convert them. This is amazing even with ridiculous next to nothing transaction fees being charged by the network. Ethereum cannot meet this sooner because the network has mostly been conceptualized as experimental than business oriented.

No! It is not, Ethereum 2.0 launched is currently processing much above 1,000 TPS at the moment! And the phases of Ether improvement is still subsisting into perpetuity! So, there is always room for improvement.
