It's worth noting that there was no requirement for people to wear masks or show proof of immunization.
According to one of the Bitcoin 2021 attendees:
Only a few attendees wore masks during the conference. The hall, as well as the satellite events held throughout the city, were completely sold out. I felt as if I'd gone back in time to a time when COVID didn't exist.
The Bitcoin Miami event was undoubtedly one of the largest the building had seen since the outbreak began. Tickets for the event were sold in excess of 12,000 units. That is a significant increase from 2000 to 2019. It demonstrates the fervor surrounding cryptocurrency as more people invest in that virtual monetary space.
The majority of attendees stated that they were there to network and to learn more about cryptocurrency, as well as to share in some of the success and growth. In fact, the Mayor of Miami persuaded event organizers to relocate the event from Los Angeles to Miami.
Francis X. Suarez, the Mayor, stated:
Whether we like it or not, we are entering a frightening technological world that is becoming more advanced. And cities will survive and thrive as a result of their decisions to prepare their citizens for the world.
He later stated that he was attempting to make Miami the world's crypto capital. The Mayor stated that he is taking concrete steps to achieve this goal. These include paying certain employees in Bitcoin (if they wish) and accepting Bitcoin as payment for taxes.
It's not the first time the virus has spread so rapidly at a conference. At the Ethereum 2020 meeting, a similar transmission occurred. Zhen Yu Young had tested positive and asked that the rest of the attendees be tested for COVID.
