For a long time, blockchain has been touted as the ultimate solution to fight vote manipulation. Knowing its potential, BitFlyer has decided to develop and eventually launch bVote, a blockchain-based voting app - designed to help with virtual shareholders meetings.
bVote’s primary market target will be the Japanese corporations who want to run general shareholders meetings without any physical presence. With bVote, people only need to register their 'My Number card' for ID, and they will be able to use it.
According to BitFlyer, it would be almost not possible to get a fair virtual shareholders meeting and virtual votes if they don’t use the blockchain technology. With the blockchain, nobody can edit the past records and everybody in the group will be able to check each other. Considering the fact that the same electronic signatures are utilized each time, people would find out if someone utilizes a new electronic signature.
The launch of bVote comes at the right time because we live in the era of COVID-19 pandemic, where many companies have their employees working from home. Virtual meetings also take place on platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Team, as not everybody forces themselves to go to the offices when they can actually work from home. BitFlyer is hoping that this is the right moment to market bVote to various companies that might need its service.
