Over 270,000 bitcoin and cryptocurrency users from Ledger, a bitcoin and cryptocurrency hardware wallet based in France have had their information hacked and published online.

The hack was executed in July, but was posted on an online platform, RaidForums last week.

The hackers accessed Ledger's website through a vulnerability and took customer email addresses, full names, phone numbers and postal addresses.

Of the situation, technology angel investor and former chief technology officer at U.S. bitcoin and crypto exchange Coinbase, Balaji Srinivasan said "Privacy [is greater than] know-your-customer (KYC)."

Some of the company's customers received emails that threatened to expose their information unless they paid money.

Ethereum News

Ripple's recent huge downturn has resulted in bearish moves both for Bitcoin and ethereum.

Ethereum experienced a sharp downturn beyond the $600, $595, and $580 support levels majorly due to facing an increase in selling.

The altcoin sampled the $550 support level and lately began an upside correction.

A key bearish trend line forming with resistance near $592 on the hourly chart of ETH/USD.

The subsequent important resistance is close to the $620 level and the 100 hourly simple moving average.

It could commence a new plunge if it fails to surpass the $595 and $600 resistance levels.

Ripple News

Due to the SEC(Securities and Exchange Commission) 's recent lawsuit against Ripple, some firms have begun to sever their ties to Ripple's crypto token XRP. former SEC commissioner,
Joseph Grundfest said in a letter to recently resigned Jay Clayton, said the enforcement action could have a negative impact on holders of XRP, who, in his view, are “innocent third-parties.”

He also said that "...simply initiating the action will impose substantial harm on innocent holders of XRP, regardless of the ultimate resolution,".

Furthermore he pointed out that has not shown a "material distinction between the operation of Ether and of XRP that is relevant to the application of the federal securities laws." and argued that the two cryptocurrencies should be treated the same.

Altcoin News

Grayscale, the Digital asset manager has gained $16.4 billion in assets under management (AUM). This is an increase from last week's $13 billion that the firm had previously announced.

According to the company's announcement via Twitter, Bitcoin remains its largest holdings , with $14.1 billion in the top crypto asset. The company's Ethereum Trust now holds $1.81 billion in ether AUM.
The company also possesses trusts for litecoin ($125.0 million), bitcoin cash ($70.7 million), ethereum classic ($67.7 million) and others with less significant holdings including XRP, XLM and zcash.

In conclusion, although the situation seems grim for ripple, other cryptocurrencies continue to do well on the market.

It is too bad to have privacy breach on account of Ledger where 270,000 users do not have protection for using a platform that they patronized anymore! I think Ledger should step up with security agencies to track the hackers and bring them to justice.
