Billionaire Elon Musk Set to become a Bitcoiner

Teaser: Musk, who was a known crypto cynic, made a lot of positive comments concerning bitcoin at an interview. He says that bitcoin is on the brink of being as accepted as traditional finance.

Elon Musk is the CEO of the electric-car making company, Tesla. He's also the CEO and Founder of SpaceX, a company that makes rockets and spacecraft. He's also one of the cofounders of paint gateway, Paypal.

Last month Elon Musk said that he is open to being paid in bitcoin.

The billionaire and Tesla's CEO also changed his Twitter bio to include; #bitcoin.

He revealed himself to be "a supporter of bitcoin.

In times past, Musk, who often generates headlines with his Twitter account by posting both memes and serious news about his businesses, has previously called dogecoin his favorite and has even been a "CEO" of the said altcoin. He has also cryptically tweeted about the second most valuable cryptocurrency, ethereum. He has made various comments on cryptocurrencies over the years via tweets, cynic, cryptic, and even funny.

Over the years, he has also commented on the bitcoin, calling its structure 'brilliant' at one point. Back in 2018, Musk confirmed he indeed holds some Bitcoin, but not all that much. He still has the 0.25 BTC sent to him by a friend years ago.

But this week, he changed his bio to #bitcoin, possibly in solidarity with cryptocurrency's poster child. This move saw bitcoin surge by 20% from where it hovered at the $30,000 zone. During yesterday's interview with Clubhouse, the business magnate said, "I do at this point think bitcoin is a good thing but added that he doesn't "have a strong opinion on other cryptocurrencies."

He also told clubhouse "I am late to the party but a supporter. I think bitcoin is on the verge of getting broad acceptance by conventional finance people." Of dogecoin, he said, "Dogecoin was made as a joke to make fun of crypto, but fate loves irony."

His latest change of heart on Bitcoin has not moved the market by much, but we know it could lead to future actions. Maybe even a Tesla-Bitcoin collaboration.
