Government promises that South Koreans will start voting from the comfort of their homes.
Ksign, a local company, has been assigned by the country's ministry of science to build a contactless platform to help with social distancing and enable residents to participate in electronic voting. ZDNet Korea reported that the said technology would also assist in parking space reservations and more household level governance measures.
The platform would be made available to householders, inhabitants, and administrators. It would also solve problems relating to video conferencing and electronic transactions. The project's architect also stated that they look forward to the platform reinforcing public health in homes.
However, vice president of Ksign, Keo Ja-In, made remarks about the plan stating their objective is to build a token ecosystem that can be utilized in any store. The plan also involves building a DID that will be consolidated into the new token ecosystem by protecting private information and verifying citizens' identity.
The leader of the Seocho local government proposed the blockchain voting system for households and commended the astronomic rate of crypto adoption in the country.
